Social Facilitation

i love improv everywhere. you can look them up on youtube. :) they're this group who organizes. well. improvisation. HAHA. the first video i saw was the Frozen Grand Central. gogo look for it.

but i'm posting this because it has something to do with Social Psychology. :) there's this thing called Social Facilitation wherein a person or a group of people performs better or worse when in the presence of an audience. Usually, when you're confident about something, you become more confident when you know people are watching you. And when you're unsure with doing something, chances are, you might fail and do worse at it when people are watching you. :)

below is a video by Improv Everywhere entitled "BEST GAME EVER" They picked out a random little league game and went through the whole nine yards to make it look like it's a major league baseball game. :)



In this case, Social Facilitation made the kids perform better. And win or lose, this was indeed their BEST GAME EVER. :) this is a nice thing to do, especially for the kids who need a little self-esteem and confidence boost. :) kudos to Improv Everywhere! :)

and i like Improv Everywhere not just because it's funny, but because it's psychology in itself. How do people react to new stimuli? (wooh!) What happens when something unusual or deviant to the norms occurs? There's this one videe, IE went to Russia and they picked a random furniture store. what the agents had to do was to sleep on the couches or beds in the store. and the reaction? the police came. but didn't file any arrest. because they couldn't find any reason for it to be something illegal. :) funny. haha

the next video is one of my favorites. :) i've always wanted to do this in the caf as part of our promotions. just burst into song. hahahaha. well. here ya go! :)
