WILLIAM

okay, you can laugh at me, but this was exactly how I felt when I was praying so hard to get in Ateneo. as in, bahala nang di ako pumasa ng kahit ano, just get me into Ateneo. I checked their site everyday to see If I got in, I rehearsed a lot of times in my head how I would react if i didn't get in, how I would spend my week wallowing and depressing. I didn't believe that I could get in, If you knew me, I wasn't anywhere near the Top students of our batch, had okay grades, so mediocre in academics. I was like major in extra-curricular activities, minor in acads. A miracle was all I was praying for.

And I remember that day, I woke up that morning heading straight to the computer to check If the results were out. typed my name, and waited for a few seconds for it to respond to me.

Gorecho, Emelou Therese C. ACCEPTED

I was screaming, crying, kept saying 'omigod omigod', called a few close friends, and then some more omigod omigod.

During the 4 years that I was in Ateneo, I would remember that day and laugh at it. Getting in was one thing, surviving Ateneo was another. So what if you got in, you still had to work 10x harder to stay. It seemed like getting in was so easy, compared to the pile of work you had to do while in school. Mediocre no more. I had to work, harder.

And that's how I feel now. A miracle was all i prayed for, for this opportunity that I knew would change my life forever and ever and ever. And maybe the people who were already inside, who were already part would say (about getting in) "ahh that's nothing" But up to now, I'd still wake up and tell myself "omigod, this really is true" And even though I've done about 2 shows now, I still can't believe it. I really am here.

And yes, getting in is one thing, making the stay worthwhile is another. I know I have a lot to work on, but all I can think about now is how thankful I am for this opportunity. Believe it for not, naiiyak pa rin ako kasi di talaga ako makapaniwala. It's all so surreal.

And the people I'm working with now, they're the best. And sobrang nakakahiya if I just do mediocre, at hindi gawin ang best ko. They're my inspiration as well, and wala, sobrang nakakatuwa lang talaga na andito ako, with these amazing people, in this amazing prod.

Cirque du Soleil : VAREKEI

O.M.G.
I was just so speechless. The stunts were so breathtaking, they were all sooo good, and it was funny too!!! I LOVED THE SHOW!!!!!! Now these are the kinds of performances you should definitely splurge for. Pinky and I didn't regret spending our money for this. It was so worth it.

sorry, I have nothing much to say kasi sobrang speechless ang lola mo. You'd have to see it to understand what I feel. haha

Even though it was raining so hard, we headed to Greenhills for Chicken Charlie.

still worth it!

and we ended the day with Serenitea AND Happy Lemon!! Definitely super cherries on top!

so overwhelmed!

What have I been up to!!! It's been a long long time!!! I keep on blogging about being so overwhelmed (i've just realized) because I really really am, and it just keeps getting better and better!

Let me start with David Archuleta Live in Manila!
Would you believe that that was his 3rd visit to the country already??
Yes, I went to his meet and greet chorva in SM Megamall. Yes, I was one of the girls screaming. He is my Justin Bieber. scratch that, he is no justin bieber. (awayin ako ng mga beliebers haha!)
Organizers said they would only allow the first 300 CDs bought to be signed by David. But he was so kind he allowed the rest of us 300 onwards to sign our cds! huhu I thought I was going to die when i shook his hand. It was just something I couldn't imagine happening to me, ever.
Bouncer was telling me to not take pictures. That's his hand. We got nearer. Like a 12-inch ruler away. I was so happy when I got off the stage, I went happy shopping in Forever 21 haha. As in. but i'm not regretting it.

As you can see I was well prepared. for the best night of my life.

Too bad he didn't sing "Longer". That song was why I fell in love with Archie. As in, in love. HAHA.
I knew his backstory, he had problems with his vocal chords etc. But when I really read through the book, I totally understood him. He was just this normal boy who went through self-esteem issues just like the rest of us, never believed that he wouldn't make it far, and didn''t want to stand out or anything. But look at him now. That's what you call Chords of Strength. (buy his book!! out now in all major bookstores nationwide!)

The next few days, I was kind of depressed, partly because I couldn't move on from the concert, and because he had lots of meet and greet and book signing events that I couldn't go to. Heard he even rode a jeepney, ate some sisig, tokwa't baboy and etc. SEE? Our boy is so down-to-earth. Please come back to the Philippines.

People would ask me, "why do you like David that much?" aside from his songs, his voice, his charm, etc. Yes, there is another reason behind this obssession. He reminds me of someone I lost. :) #charot

I will forever love you David Archuleta!!!!
(Varekei blog up next!)

turn your Shakes-fear to Shakes-peer!

PETA introduces William Shakespeare's immortal characters through rap and hip-hop

PRESS STATEMENT FROM PETA:

"If there's a word that strikes fear among high school students more than Calculus or History combined—it's Shakespeare.

"But what's in a name? For most students, William Shakespeare has become synonymous with long poetic dialogue, archaic language, confusing histories. Shakespeare has bored many a student to tears and made their noses bleed.

"Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) for its 44th Theater Season takes Shakespeare off the lofty pedestal and makes The Bard a "peer," or to borrow the term of the youth today, a "kabarkada."

"PETA has come up with an original play that will cure students' Shakes-fear and and turn the Bard into a Shakes-peer—Everyone's friend.

"Directed by the same woman behind the hit musical dramedy Care Divas, PETA Artistic Director Maribel Legarda, comes a daring play that will break down barriers between Shakespeare and Filipino students: William.

"William is set in a high school in Metro Manila, where five young students are forced to study Shakespeare by their terror class adviser, Ms. Lutgarda Martinez.

"In the process of studying, they not only realize the beauty of Shakespeare's works but also discover themselves through Shakespeare's characters. The class muse, Sofia, finds out what true beauty is through Romeo and Juliet; the bully, TJ, encounters humility and grace through Hamlet; the brainy OFW's daughter, Estella, learns forgiveness while the student council leader, Richard, learns self-acceptance through Merchant of Venice; and a timid lad, Erwin, finds his voice through Julius Caesar.

"These high school barkada soon realize that Shakespeare is not just a literary icon meant to torment their lives, but is also a friend and peer. From then on, they begin referring to Shakespeare by his first name, "William."

"Writen by Ron Capinding, William uses rap and hip-hop to introduce Shakespeare's immortal characters to young audiences. It also touches on themes of adolescence, parent's unconditional love and friendship. William promotes respect for teachers and classmates and advocates a love for reading and appreciating literature, Shakespeare or not.

"William play dates are August 14, 19-21, 26-28, September 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, 2011 with shows at 10:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. The PETA Theater Center is located at No. 5 Eymard Drive, New Manila, Quezon City.

"William's cast includes: Ian Segarra, Inno Martin, Anj Heruela, Joan Bugcat, John Moran, Nathan Nunag, Norbs Portales III, Rico del Rosasio, J-mee Katanyag, Julia Enriquez, Anna Luna, Meann Espinosa, Jojo Atienza, Timee Gorecho, Elmer Cruz, Cheeno Macaraig, Carlon Matobato and Justin Mactal.

"Watch PETA's William and breakdown Shakespeare with ease!"

CCP exhibit

wait ha rant lang talaga, bakit tinethreat ang CCP na babawasan funds nila dahil sa exhibit na yan!?!!! konti na nga lang ang nilalaan for culture and arts tapos babawasan nyo pa!!!!! Gahd so corrupt. yes, welcome to the Philippines where the Church IS the state.

sfkslfskhsdkhfskldklsdcklhlkshdfskjfksjlhfshfklashfsklahkhfkjflsfshklfhsklchsiocehio

okay i may not have seen how offensive this exhibit is, but if this guy Mideo Cruz has a point then he should be able to express it in whatever form he wants, freedom of expression nga diba. pero gusto ko rin ang point ni PNOY na CCP is funded by the government and it should serve the taxpayers well, at if it offends majority of the taxpayers then it should be taken done. samteeeeeng like dat. then i suggest, mideo cruz bring his exhibit else where. ako, i'd like to see it. my faith is strong at kung maooffend man ako, hindi magbabago pananalig ko sa Diyos. YEHES.

where am i coming from? nung pinag-aralan namin yung pagsimula ng teatro sa pilipinas for history, there was this scene na the actors had to super subtext the play para hindi ma gets ng mga sundalong amerikano. and when they weren't looking, they would show a tableau of the philippine flag, and quickly hide it. our ancestors fought for this freedom, and now we have it.

dadating na lang ba ang araw na makikialam ang simbahan o kung sinu man sa mga dula na itatanghal? eh what if we have a point. what if magsstage kami ng prod tungkol sa rh-bill, ipapatigil ba ng simbahan dahil anti-rh sila ganerch?!

ehhhhhhhhh mideo cruz was just doing whatever art he wanted to do, what if you had an out of this world idea and someone told you, wag people will condemn you for it. ehhh kung gusto ko!!!! kung sa tingin nyo offensive, eh di wag nyong tingnan. kung nakita nyo na at na offend kayo, ehhhhhhh wala na kayong magagawa nagawa nya na ehhh

i'm not defending mideo cruz, this is just from me, a point of view from someone whose right brain works vehemently.
