*disclaimer: spoiler alert. don't read if you haven't seen HP.
harry potter died. kiddddddd. HAHA.
so yesterday, we watched Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. I'm a very frustrated HP reader/fan because i stopped at 4 and TRIED to continue reading the 5th. i read the 5th book around 5 times too, but i never got past the first 2 pages. Partly, it IS my fault because i have become a tamad reader myself. Perhaps the last book i've read because i WANTED to read it and not that it was a requirement was Dan Brown's ANGELS AND DEMONS a few years after it came out. I was in 3rd year HS then. I'm a senior college student now. :D
first of all, this is def a cutie. hihihi
my second reaction is that HARRY POTTER has been uberly commercialized. it's frustrating. how? as i could remember, HP was okay for kids, for the teenie weenies and the kids at heart. i loved the first book, and even the second. the third, can't remember much. the fourth, well yes because cedric diggory was there (loved him even before he became a vampire). well the fourth, i couldn't put down the book. it was my favorite among all. the first one too. but i think through the years, as JK wrote the following books, she got even more pressured because people wanted to know what happened next. The movie producers wanted more from this frenzy. so she wrote, ewan. i just know, something got lost along the way. to put it shortly, i think the books that followed were written because of money, fame and all that jazz.
what is disappointing is that HP6 has become a dark one. it has shifted from a magical child-friendly tale to a dark, depressing scenes of the story just flashing by us. i couldn't even put together the scenes from HP6. maybe because i haven't read the book, i couldn't just understand what was going on and where these people are coming from. i have a strong feeling the movie has failed the book, but that's the case most of the time. HP6 FOR ME (don't fight me. haha), was just like a 3D VIEW FINDER.
scenes flashing by me. pfft. (oh and the movie theater smelled like bagoong. eek. )
one more thing, you know that feeling where this movie puts you up to this level of hypeness and then it suddenly presents you with all the information you've been asking right from the start, and it relieves you in the end? (think Da Vinci Code, well for me.) WELL. Harry Potter did not bring me up there to that level. Yes, it kept me wanting for more so that i could understand. But even the death of Dumbledore wasn't at all that dramatic. He died, Avada Kedavra, The end. after the death, i still was waiting for more. But no. nada. and it ended while we were still up there waiting for more. BITIN. in all the wrong places. booooo.
there. so i give HP6 2 stars. :D
