During the first week, the first 30 minutes was their "warm up time" or "prepping up time". I open the door, perkily exclaim (EXCLAIM!) "GOODMORNING!!!", the kid grabs/clutches onto his/her guardian/parent's hand/leg/arm, the guardian or parent tries to push the kid to the classroom, kid retreats, cries, throws into a tantrum forcing the parent/guardian to bring the kid in the room. then spend at least 30 minutes telling the kid "it's okay i will be waiting for you outside." but it doesn't work. so, i do this "distraction strategy" where i pretend to show the kid how to play with this toy, or let him/her color and do art works, or just simply "give teacher a long long long hug!" when they get distracted, the parent/guardians LITERALLY RUN FOR THEIR LIVES out to the door. when the kid realizes their loved one is missing, they cry again. and you won't be able to talk to them for the next 30 minutes.
HAHA. basically that's how our first week went, but at the end of the day, the kids are always excited NOT TO LEAVE SCHOOL! :) and this week was the 2nd week, and myged. It's always heart warming to ACTUALLY SEE PROGRESS. like, Cheska was always the one bringing her mommy inside, then cries when she leaves. but last monday, when i opened the door, i immediately said "good morning! now say goodbye to mommy!" AND SHE DID. "bye mommy!" and she happily brought her bag inside the classroom and played with the other kids! now, she's like the leader of the class! she encourages everyone to sit down and listen to me, or when someone cries upon entering the room, she grabs the hand of the crying kid and says "let's go, let's play!" HAHAHAHAHA I LOVE CHESKA. sometimes when there are too many kids standing up, i catch her grabbing the other kids saying "ashton sit down!! sit down on the carpet!!! nico! quiet! matti sit beside me!" HAYLOVEYOUCHESKA! for a 2 year old, you are a teacher's angel. :)
Jamie is this girl who always cries when entering, and she doesn't say anything in school. but this week, she's the one screaming "BLUE!!! RED!!! PINK!!! PURPLE!!! HEART!! STAR!!!!" she's always the one reciting, and she's really smart. she's also really malambing. she gives me a big big hug when she enters the room! :)
Matti is also a woman (WOMAN!) of a few words. she was still crying earlier this week, but towards the end, she now says goodbye to her yayas and then runs to cheska (her bff haha) to play with. :) lahvet. lately, she has been answering and reciting during circle time too.
Nico, you smart boy. :) one day he asked me "teacher what's this?" i answered "it's a giraffe" and he said "VERY GOOD!!!" bwahahahhahaha! and Nico is makulit, but he's easy to talk to and I can depend on him to behave and show his other classmates how to be inside the classroom! :)
Collin is going to be suma cum laude. i've taught him to say H20 instead of Water (BWAHAHAHHAHAHA) and identify where his Spine is. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA He's the youngest in this school, he's just 1 y/o, but he's our sunshine in preschool! :) HAHAHA he makes everyone he sees happy because he's just sunshiny and perky! haha i love collin!!!! pramis Collin will be kaduper smart! :)
it's tiring at the end of the day, but it's very fun and fulfilling. :) kung hindi nyo pa gets sa blog na ito kung gaano ako nag eenjoy sa ginagawa ko, come see me in class (huwaw haha!) and you'll see me happiest like i've never been. :)
so happy for you timee... wow. we grow up so fast. and so will they, i guess ^_^
