WHAT A WEEK!!!

It's just tuesday, and it almost feels like it has been 3 weeks already!!!!! HAHAHAHA Here are just keypoints (KEYPOINTS?) you have to watch out for in this blog.
I AM SO PAOS.
I AM SO EXCITED TO REHEARSE FOR THIS NEW PLAY I'M IN.
I AM SO HAVING FUN WITH MY KIDS EVEN THOUGH IT FEELS LIKE I'VE BEEN WORKING OUT THE WHOLE DAAAY.
I AM SO KINIKILIG AND LOVIN' HOW EVERYTHING HAS BEEN BETWEEN US (BETWEEN US?!???? HAHAHAHA OKAY LAGLAGAN NA TOH!!!)
I AM SO DONE WITH THE FIRST PTC WAHOOOO!!!!!
AND I AM SO EXCITED TO INOM NA TONIGHT!!!!!! :)

oh and i'm excited that noy's officially going to be our new president. out with the mole, in with the NOY! YES I'M SO WITTY. HAHAHA. (no classes/work tom!!! partaaayyy! hahaha)

so how did i get paos? (as in PA-OS. kaw ha getting ideas. chengke! witty ko today! hinihiritan nalang sarili ko! hahaha) over the weekend, I didn't drink a single drop of water. gulped down 2 cans of softdrinks, lotsa ice candies, and liters of juice. tapos Sunday evening, i felt that my throat kindof hurt. didn't mind. the following day, woke up, paos. no moh na. and yesterday was Nico's 3rd birthday, I thought of new games like musical chairs, stop dance and etc. my small classroom, fit for only 10 people, was jampacked with 25 people!!!! i had to SCREAAAAAM to talk to the kids! hahahah so yun, nadagdagan pa. hahaha

so what's this new play? Si Pilandok at ang Bayan ng Bulawan written by Christine Bellen, directed by Jerry Respeto and Jethro Tenorio! it's a musical commissioned by the Ninoy and Cory Aquino foundation! :) watch out for us on August in the Rizal Mini Theater and Meralco theater on September! HIHI!!! :) what's my role? BASTA. MAYAMAN AKO. HAHAHAHAHA

so how have i been with my kids? PRAMIS. at the end of the day, para akong binugbog at nag CAT training ng 3 weeks. i'm out of breath, i'm so tired, yung tipong nakatulala nalang. BUT THEN SOBRANG SAYA. I'VE BEEN HAVING SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! i love love love my kids. :)

so why am i kinikilig?? EH PAKIALAM MO!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

so how was my first ever PTC? just like having oral exams with this cool prof whom you can talk to. :) masaya! napapakwento yung mga parents, and it's amazing, the things they don't know about their kids when in school. :) the second half of the ptc on thursday!! i can worry about that, but tahnayt....

I'M GOING TO PARTAAYYYY! hahahahahahhahahaha

k. that's all bye!

whatttuuuuuppppppp

so what have i been up to after that much anticipated FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL??? nothin' much, it's just that I'M EXTREMELY LOVIN' MY KIDS!!!!!!!! the first days were kindof tiring. most of my Nursery students were first timers, and they were afraid of going to school, afraid of my shocking-yellow classroom, afraid of spending two whole hours with this stranger whom everyone calls "teacher".

During the first week, the first 30 minutes was their "warm up time" or "prepping up time". I open the door, perkily exclaim (EXCLAIM!) "GOODMORNING!!!", the kid grabs/clutches onto his/her guardian/parent's hand/leg/arm, the guardian or parent tries to push the kid to the classroom, kid retreats, cries, throws into a tantrum forcing the parent/guardian to bring the kid in the room. then spend at least 30 minutes telling the kid "it's okay i will be waiting for you outside." but it doesn't work. so, i do this "distraction strategy" where i pretend to show the kid how to play with this toy, or let him/her color and do art works, or just simply "give teacher a long long long hug!" when they get distracted, the parent/guardians LITERALLY RUN FOR THEIR LIVES out to the door. when the kid realizes their loved one is missing, they cry again. and you won't be able to talk to them for the next 30 minutes.

HAHA. basically that's how our first week went, but at the end of the day, the kids are always excited NOT TO LEAVE SCHOOL! :) and this week was the 2nd week, and myged. It's always heart warming to ACTUALLY SEE PROGRESS. like, Cheska was always the one bringing her mommy inside, then cries when she leaves. but last monday, when i opened the door, i immediately said "good morning! now say goodbye to mommy!" AND SHE DID. "bye mommy!" and she happily brought her bag inside the classroom and played with the other kids! now, she's like the leader of the class! she encourages everyone to sit down and listen to me, or when someone cries upon entering the room, she grabs the hand of the crying kid and says "let's go, let's play!" HAHAHAHAHA I LOVE CHESKA. sometimes when there are too many kids standing up, i catch her grabbing the other kids saying "ashton sit down!! sit down on the carpet!!! nico! quiet! matti sit beside me!" HAYLOVEYOUCHESKA! for a 2 year old, you are a teacher's angel. :)

Jamie is this girl who always cries when entering, and she doesn't say anything in school. but this week, she's the one screaming "BLUE!!! RED!!! PINK!!! PURPLE!!! HEART!! STAR!!!!" she's always the one reciting, and she's really smart. she's also really malambing. she gives me a big big hug when she enters the room! :)

Matti is also a woman (WOMAN!) of a few words. she was still crying earlier this week, but towards the end, she now says goodbye to her yayas and then runs to cheska (her bff haha) to play with. :) lahvet. lately, she has been answering and reciting during circle time too.

Nico, you smart boy. :) one day he asked me "teacher what's this?" i answered "it's a giraffe" and he said "VERY GOOD!!!" bwahahahhahaha! and Nico is makulit, but he's easy to talk to and I can depend on him to behave and show his other classmates how to be inside the classroom! :)

Collin is going to be suma cum laude. i've taught him to say H20 instead of Water (BWAHAHAHHAHAHA) and identify where his Spine is. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA He's the youngest in this school, he's just 1 y/o, but he's our sunshine in preschool! :) HAHAHA he makes everyone he sees happy because he's just sunshiny and perky! haha i love collin!!!! pramis Collin will be kaduper smart! :)

it's tiring at the end of the day, but it's very fun and fulfilling. :) kung hindi nyo pa gets sa blog na ito kung gaano ako nag eenjoy sa ginagawa ko, come see me in class (huwaw haha!) and you'll see me happiest like i've never been. :)

okay breathe. it's time to smile.

long story why i've started listening to the radio lately. my laptop went to the laptop hospital for a month, so i can't add new songs to my phone. can't play anything new, and i'm kindof tired of the songs. so i tune in to RX monster radio because my co-teacher said it's a good station, and the songs are the songs i'd like to hear. so okay. HAHAHA. the DJs are sabaw, Chico and Delamar are laughing forever haha nakakatuwa lang to listen to them. and so Chico subtly plugs his blog, and off I go. was just curious how DJs look like. do they really look like how they sound? (YA'LL YALL??? KNOW WHAT I MEAN) and i found myself laughing forever to this. HAHAHA read it. :) because laughing is good for everyone. :)

i want to cryyy!!!!

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL I WANT TO CRY!!!!!!!!!!! There's half of me that's crying because i can't wait to see my little babies crying for their mommies and daddies, and then after 2 hours of fun and learning, never wanting to leave school! I'M SO EXCITED TO BE THEIR FIRST TEACHER EVER!! :) fast forward, Collin is going to be a very successful businessman, so to the heir of SM group of companies, make way for this business tycoon and i'm going to educate! :) and my other student, i don't know her yet, but if she and Collin gets married, I AM SO IN THEIR WEDDING HAHAHAHA CUTEEEE!!! :)

and half of me crying because it's my first time to teach ever in my life AND I DON'T FREAKIN' KNOW WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! SOBRANG NAIIYAK NA AKO.

but i know i'll pull this off. I JUST HAVE TO PULL THIS OFF. This is my chosen career and I HAVE TO PULL THIS OFF. :) I know there is nothing perfect, but i will try to make it perfect for my kiddies. :)

to my cute little toddlers and nursery babies... someday when you're old enough and you get to read this blog, lost in cyberspace, you'll know how much excited I am for tomorrow, and how much proud I am of you for your future. :) studying at a very young age is a craazy idea, but your parents believe that this will make your future brighter, and don't worry, i'm going to make that happen. I'm going to make you believe that learning is super fun, and that there is absolutely no stress and pressure in learning more. :) I will make you shine and be proud of yourself and like you for who you are, your unique self. I will make you WANT to go to school, WANT to learn more, and never stop learning. :) I know it's just a year, and you may not at all remember who I am, but i'm so sure (and hell i will make sure) you remember what I teach. :) I will not stop until you get it. :)

I LOVE YOU AND THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY FIRST YEAR OF TEACHING THEEEEEEE BEST. I KNOW IT WILL BE. :)

horoscopes

I half-believe in horoscopes. I know some are ridiculous like "scorpio: wag kang mag suot ng red, baka manakawan ka." haha. but some have 50% truth in it. Like the other week, I just had a sun phone, and my horoscope was "tawagan mo na, baka magtampo sayo yun." yes, there was a little truth as someone was expecting my call that day. HAHA

So today, my horoscope reads:
SCORPIO
Love - Dinadaan mo sa bilis eh gusto niya bagalan mo. (BWAHHAHAHAHHA)
Money - Kahit rich ka na, type mo pa rin ang fishball. (HAHAHAHAH)
Career - Pakinggan mo ang reklamo ng iba. (hmmm)

for other horoscopes, tune in (TUNE IN?? HAHA) to the Libre part of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. or. just keep on reading! :)

CAPRICORN
Love-Nagpapaapekto ka na masyado sa kanya
M - pumirma ka muna kung walang pambayad
C - Kapag masaya ka sa work mo, pumalakpak

AQUARIUS
L-curious ka nung una, ngayon obssessed na (go out of the closet na teh! kidding!)
M-Kabilang ka sa sampung mananalo (ng utang! bwahah btw the ones in parenthesis are just my side comments ha!)
C-tumahimik ka at baka mali pa sabihin mo

PISCES
L- hindi masama ang mag-usap lang noh!
M-tabing riles ka nakatira pero mansyon naman (wtf??? HAHA)
C-malakas pang-amoy, mahina pandinig

ARIES

CANCER
L-kailangan ng focus, sa kanya lang tumingin
M-kinakati ka sa iyong mahal na underwear
C-lakasan ang pukpok para pumasok

LEO
L-mag-aasawa ka ng bumbero (hot men! HAHA)
M-gusto mo bonggang kasal??? asa pa! (wawa ka naman! haha)
C-kapag pagod na sa katatayo, eh di umupo

VIRGO
L- magpropose ka in private, huwag in public (rejection humiliation?? HAHA)

C- yari! wala kang dalang tissue paper (bawal matae today!)

SAGITTARIUS
L-mabobosohan mo siya nang di mo sinasadya (dahil dyan, sasadyain mo na! HAHA)
M-isinangla ng boyfriend mo ang hikaw mo
C-bitawan mo na ang pagkapretensyoso mo

this horoscope is hilarious. I didn't get this from any site, transcibed from the Philippine Daily Inquirer Libre Magazine, by yours truly. HAHAHA. it's up to you if you want to believe it, half-believe it, or like charice says "i can't bilibit!" hahahah!

meanwhile, premier last night of the first ever Filipino musical. i'm so proud. i can't wait to watch! watch the trailer below!

did you watch last night's finale episode of glee???
i did. i cried. i laughed. i loved.
(was just a bit disappointed, ETC kindof promoted the Mike-Tina-Artie love triangle and the QuinnSchuester issue, i was waiting for it in the finale. boo ETC)

OKAY BACK TO WORK!
Have to prepare my classroom for my first-time preschoolers!

on tardiness

today i was ALMOST late. last summer (omg summer was just like yesterday, it's already june!) our work time started at 8am. On my first day, I left my condo 7:30 and all the jeeps were full already!! I took a cab. On my second day, I left my condo 7am and all the jeeps were still full. so I took the cab again. On my third day, I left my condo at 6:30, voila. A JEEP! :) and so everyday i leave at around 6 to 6:30 (for my 8am job) and arrive in school just before 7. HAHA I have idle time to eat, do my make up, prepare my classroom, hang out and do whatever i want till the clock strikes 8.

Today was just a different case. HAHA. i overslept. I think it was the medicine (oh you know them antihistamines haha) I was up by 6:30, did speed cooking (cooked whatever i could grab from my pantry), and left by around 7:12. I didn't want to be late that day. Good thing there was this half empty jeep (I'm picky with jeeps, I only ride the half-empty and the empty jeeps. no point in paying P7 if you can't sit down comfortably), the driver just has to drive faster. I got off my stop, and when i looked at my watch, it was just 7:23!!! I had 7 minutes to walk fast!!! So i walked really fast, and when i got to the gate of the school, IT WAS STILL 7:23. HAHAHAHA

Thank You Po for letting me arrive in school just in time. :)

It made me think, back in college (OMG THAT WAS JUST 2 MONTHS AGO!) I CAN do away with waking up at 7:20 and make it to my 7:30 class. I don't know how to do it, but i manage anyway. HAHA. There were some classes where it'd be okay to hurry up a little and make it 7:40. But there are just SOME CLASSES WHERE YOU CAN'T BE LATE OR IT'S DEATH. Like if it's just a 50 minute class, and you have this bad ass test that day, YOU CANNOT WASTE A MINUTE OF IT. you just have to come on time. Or you have this terror prof who gives you a whole period CUT even if you were just a split second late, and you're up to your maximum cuts already, and that morning when it's 7:20 and you have ten minutes or else you'll repeat the whole course again because that prof will be giving you a W for exceeding the max cuts. There were moments like that in life. back in college.

But in the real world, when you have a job. you don't have maximum cuts, or 10 minute grace time, or excused tardiness and cuts. Some have leaves, but for newbies like me (those who haven't spent 6 months in the company) YOU HAVE SALARY DEDUCTION.

wala lang. It's just a big change. The money isn't really much of a deal for me, it's just that, everything is different now. I'm a working girl now, and this world is different. This is not school (WELL THIS IS. but not for me, i'm the teacher now!) where i can get away with pretending to be sick and staying home from school. Last week, I got really sick, but i didn't have any choice but to go to work. It's okay, work makes me happy anyway. Just have to surround myself with positive energies. :) But this is new for me. This is a world where things JUST HAVE TO BE DONE with no excuses.

but you know i'm a girl who loves something new.
this is a new world, AND I'M LOVIN' IT! :)

Teacher Timee is running it, yo.

I LOVE CEBU. I WILL SO BE BACK.
September has lots of long weekends. hmmmmm

3Months in a Nutshell

So, after that hell of a week studying (omg studying seems to be so yesterday!) I celebrated like crazy. See for yourself.
Backstreet Boys Concert! :)

Tagaytay with friends! :)

Camping out in ellein's farm! :)

BlueRoast with Block C! :)

I'm a happy graduate! :)

and so are the Block C people! :) yikee!

YES, I curtsied after I got my diploma!
nice shot Josh! :)

then over the Holy Week, we went awaaay!
Prudencia 2010 with the Concepcions!
We were having a water balloon/watergun fight,
when I pulled out the buckets! BWAHA
It was a blast!

There are more pictures of parties I can't post, just because i'm a teacher now. HAHAHAHA

so yeah, i know i was all giddy and excited for that Woodrose interview, got all dressed up for it. But really got me thinking, IT'S REALLY FAR. :) and while i was discerning, this school called for a demo--not an interview, a demo. I immediately set up a date, and there ya have it. I went for the demo class, 4 cutie toddlers listening to my story about Little Red Riding Hood (topic: red), then after they asked me a few questions and told me they will contact me soon. The day after i was texted to come, and there ya go! This is how i got employed in less than 24 hours. HAHA

I know some people prefer not to work after grad, and bum around, vacay all they want. That's good! But i don't think it'll work for me. hAHA The 1 month-bumming-around-waiting-for-graduation was enough. I was too hyped up to just stop. and to tell you the truth, i'm enjoying! :) Got to teach my first few classes this summer, and although there were fewer students than i expected, I LOVED IT. :) I LOVE TEACHING! I LOVE THE KIDS! homaygad. I LOVE LOVE LOVE. :)

Today, June 5, I'm officially a 2-month-old working girl! HAHA i'm so addicted to me being employed. HAHA Actually, i can't believe i'm working. Neither can parents. We had this preschool fair at Eastwood, and one parent was inquiring about our school.

mom: so you have highschool here?
me: yes mommy, we do have highschool!
mom: so ....... are you a student here?

BWAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHH

me: mommy!!! teacher po ako!!!!
mommy: OH MY!! YOU LOOK SO YOUNG!!!! Daddy look oh! She's so young, and she's already a teacher!!!!
daddy: ah talaga? akala ko 12 siya. (i thought she was 12)

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH

i don't know if i should be flattered! haha i'm trying to change my closet now, just so I look... like a teacher. and not a highschool student. should i wear more make up? i don't know. HAHA

as of now, i'm doing classroom preparations and making unit plans for the schoolyear with just barely ONE WEEK BEFORE CLASSES! we start on June 15 AND I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE MY KIDS! :) on June 15, I'm officially a teacher! IM SO EXCITED!!!! so please pray for me and my first day high! *all giddy!!!!! hihihiih*

more updates soon!

oh mr. sun, mr. golden sun please shine down on me,

What Teachers Make by Taylor Mali

forgive me for my very very long absence, but for the meantime, i'll leave you with this. you'll understand why i chose to teach. :) not so long ago, someone asked me what career i'm going into after graduation, and when i told him i was going to be a preschool teacher, he answered "nag Ateneo ka para lang maging preschool teacher?" (you went to Ateneo just to become a preschool teacher?) I am not offended. Clearly, that person didn't learn anything from his teachers.

You can watch Taylor Mali recite the poem (it's better to read along with him. :)

What Teachers Make

(OR, IF THINGS DON’T WORK OUT YOU CAN ALWAYS GO TO LAW SCHOOL)

He says the problem with teachers is
"What’s a kid going to learn
from someone who decided his best option in life
was to become a teacher?"

He reminds the other dinner guests that it’s true
what they say about teachers:
Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach.

I decide to bite my tongue instead of his
and resist the temptation to remind the dinner guests
that it’s also true what they say about lawyers.

Because we’re eating, after all, and this is polite company.

"I mean, you’re a teacher, Taylor." He says.
"Be honest. What do you make?"

And I wish he hadn’t done that
(asked me to be honest)
because, you see, I have a policy in my classroom
about honesty and ass-kicking:
if you ask for it, then I have to let you have it.

You want to know what I make?

I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.
I can make a C+ feel like a Congressional Medal of Honor
and an A- feel like a slap in the face.
How dare you waste my time
with anything less than your very best.

I make kids sit through 40 minutes of study hall
in absolute silence. No, you may not work in groups.
No, you may not ask a question, so put your hand down.
Why won’t I let you go to the bathroom?
Because you’re bored.
And you don’t really have to go to the bathroom, do you?

I make parents tremble in fear when I call home:
Hi. This is Mr. Mali. I hope I haven’t called at a bad time,
I just wanted to talk to you about something your son said today.
To the biggest bully in the class, he said,
“Leave the kid alone. I still cry sometimes, don’t you?”
And it was the noblest act of courage I have ever seen.

I make parents see their children for who they are
and what they can be.

You want to know what I make?

I make kids wonder,
I make them question,
I make them criticize.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them write, write, write.
And then I make them read.
I make them spell definitely beautiful, definitely beautiful, definitely beautiful
over and over again until they will never misspell
either one of those words again.
I make them show all their work in math
and hide it on their final drafts in English.
I make them understand if you’ve got this [brains],
then you follow this [heart],
and if someone ever tries to judge you
by what you make, you give them this [the finger].

Here, let me break it down for you, so you know what I say is true:
Teachers make a goddamn difference! Now what about you?

YEAH WHAT ABOUT YOU? :)

OMG.

it's JUNE and I HAVE LOTS TO UPDATE. OMAYGAD.
if you really care about me and have been dying to know what's up with me for the past 3 MONTHS! i'm already a 2 month old working girl!! :) i'm a preschool teacher at this International School, i kicked myself out of the dorm and moved in to a condo.
