family.

imissfamily. watch this, nakakaiyak.

beware of crocodiles.

honestly, i don't know the difference between crocodiles and alligators. but anyway, a few days ago, it was reported that the crocodiles from the pasig zoo (?? am i correct?) were missing due to flood echos. onga naman, would you save the crocodiles first? if yes, where would you put them? haha. (oh i should not be laughing. sorry) the people around Pasig were told to stay out of the flood waters because the crocs were on the loose.

alas, it was true.

relief operations day2

nauna yung day3 because i was just so overwhelmed with how my day went. ENTA people going to our area, relief operations still ongoing in Ateneo, etc.

Relief Operation Day 2

i missed the actual day 2 of the Ateneo relief operations last Monday because i had to finish FOUR PAPERS FOR THEOLOGY. Our prof didn't announce any move of deadline (the papers were to be passed by email) so i assumed that we had to pass that day. tapos biglang sabi nung tapos ko na lahat na the deadline was wednesday nalang. at least natapos ko na.

pero while i was doing the last paper, natauhan ako. MY PAPER IS ABOUT SOCIAL JUSTICE, I'M WRITING ABOUT IT, WHEN THE BETTER THING TO DO WAS TO ACTUALLY DO IT IN THE COVERED COURTS. nainis ako. so sabi ko talaga sa paper yung reflection ko na theo is always emphasizing na we should actively live out our religion and stuff. not be passive but be pro-active. nainis ako na i was being passive by doing the paper. i also wrote about people defying social structures and economic statuses, dahil mapa mahirap o mayaman andun sa covcourts doing the same thing. it didn't matter whether you owned a huge multi-billion company, when you volunteer, you have to pack relief goods or sort clothes, or measure rice into packs, just like the rest. nainis talaga ako sa paper na yun. What does Ateneo education emphasize? good grades? or MAGIS? (some people may argue with the concept of MAGIS, but you get the point. the values that our school teaches us.) would i rather do this paper to try to get a high grade for theology? or be MEN & WOMEN FOR OTHERS? (forgive me for being like this.)

at some point, i wanted to drop all my acads and go to the covcourts. naisip ko din kasi yung mga tao na nasalanta ng bagyo. those who lost their books, readings, laptops. how are they going to get through school?? how will they catch up on the latest readings, or continue making papers if they lost everything? ang unfair ko naman ata na nakakagawa ako, tapos sila. wala nang mga gamit. :(

i made bawi and went to volunteer at the covered courts last Tuesday. we were supposed to go to the area that day, but we were told that deployments to Industrial Valley Complex left early in the morning. so we decided to just assign ourselves around the covcourts and volunteer for the rest of the day.

clothing area

i got assigned at the clothing area. initially, i did not want this because i knew my allergies were acting up. but after hearing about how fun it was, mixing and matching tops for mommies, daddies and 4 kiddies, i gave it a try. basically, what you had to put into one platic were: 1 set of clothes for dad (top, bottom, undie), 1 set for mom (top, bottom, undie), 2 sets for the 2 daughters, and 2 sets for the 2 sons. i assumed that some family had teenage daughters and sons, so I got some from the women's and men's pile. haha.

after awhile, my allergies were acting up, so i went with ate vir and edith to the smocket. then we decided to eat at kanin club. super random. :) when we came back, we did some rice measuring. hahaha. go TEAM ENTA!!!

edith and i wanted to get deployed BADLY. so when danica called us because she was getting deployed, we came with her. WOOH! we were so excited. HAHA. we were sent to RED CROSS RIZAL CHAPTER. :)

RED CROSS' track board... the reports and cases, the places na nasalanta ng bagyo.

edith, timee and angelo in the RED CROSS office!

what did we do?

this:
we made IDs. for the volunteers. please don't judge me, but Ateneo deployed us to make IDs? we felt that we could've done so much more. yung idea lang na, ang dami nang nagugutom at naghihintay ng relief goods, talagang inuna namin yung mga IDs. isa pang point is that, ilan kami inassign sa ID making? 12. enough to make a part of an assembly line, enough to make around 30 bags of clothings, enough to pack 50 food packages. i am entitled to my own opinions. pero if making the IDs were a priority, then let's go. we made one for ourselves din. :) we ARE after all VOLUNTEERS for the RED CROSS. on one hand, i think din RED CROSS had too many volunteers that day, sobrang sikip na ng headquarters kaya siguro ID nalang pinagawa sa amin.

danica, edith, steve, jerold and angelo at the back of the pickup!
we were all happy we got IDs. bwahaha.

basically, that was the highlight of my day in the relief operations. clothing and IDs. haha.

WE ARE IN NEED OF MORE DONATIONS!!!! WE NEED MORE RICE!! BOTTLED WATER!!! and CLOTHING!!! If you have some to spare, please please bring them to the Ateneo de Manila University COLLEGE COVERED COURTS. We appreciate ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER!!!! You can also VOLUNTEER!!!!! Relief Operations are from 6am till 12 midnight! :) GOGOGO!!!!

Or, in the comforts of your own phone (ano daw?!) you can donate!!!! text
RED(space)AMOUNT to 2899 for GLOBE or 4483 for SMART. You can only donate in these amounts: 5, 25, 50, 100 and 300. balita ko pwede din daw 500. balita lang. chismis ba. HEHEHEHE. :)

relief operations day3

let me blog in tagalog, my sentiments will be more sincere.

naiiyak ako ngayon.

rica, ate yani, ate vir, mika, miguel, dolly, danica, kate, roan, mika o., cas, miko, mia, deer, say, deli, judge, condom, deli (ulit? omg i can't see.), angelo. thank you sobra.

ENTA's area. Industrial Valley Elementary School.

the people in our area in Industrial Valley Complex waiting for our food packages.

naiiyak ako. napproud din ako sa atin. sobrang thank you. :') sobrang thank you. sobra. :')
(special thanks to Ate Nono for making this possible. for bringing ENTA to our area. To Danica, for pushing this to happen. To Ate Vir who lent us transpo para mapadpad kami doon, to the alumni who were there! riz (who really wanted to go), kate, ate yani!! to EVERYONE. sobrang thank you talaga.)

(oo may issue ako sa father figures okay. haha bare it all!?) minsan nag eemail siya na "i can't imagine this semester is going to be over, i will really miss you all. :("

ito yung itsura ng classroom namin for the first 30 minutes. puno yan nung first day. tapos nawawala nalang yung mga tao. cut lahat.

tapos nung bumagyo, sabi nya "i hope you and your families are safe... i can't imagine losing any of you.. :(" at ito yung email nya after sa amin... :((

"If you know students in our abnormal psychology class who are homeless could you please email me privately and let me know who they are?

A student asked me about grades today. If you've been severely affected by the storm, the first priority is your safety and housing, and everything else has to be secondary, including any presentations and papers.

If you've been severely affected by the storm, forget about abnormal psychology and just concentrate on getting life back in order.
-Raj"

naiiyak ako. yung thesis adviser din namin, nagtatanong if everyone is okay. :(

volunteers in Ateneo.
photo taken by Kevin Tatco.

3. dahil sa overwhelming number of volunteers. dahil Ateneo has been one of the biggest in terms of relief operations... (i'm not being competitive) yung mga tao sa cov courts, galing sa iba't ibang lupalop, kahit yung hindi atenista, andun. at sobrang thankful ako. :( thank you. di ko alam kung bakit kayo andun, kung may selfish kayo na motives kaya kayo andun (pero wala din ako maisip.) sobrang thank you tlaga. sabi ko nga sa theology paper ko, sa pagvovolunteer nakita ko na na-defy yung social structures and economic statuses ng mga tao, age at gender. lahat ng mga labels at walls, nawala. mapa bata o matanda, mayaman o mahirap, andun sa covcourts nagbubuhat ng mga boxes, nagpapack ng food packages, naghahanap ng clothes for a family of 6, nagmemeasure ng bigas, naging parte na ng assembly line para mag load or unload ng trucks, nadeploy sa mga areas para mag deliver ng relief goods. waah naiiyak ako. mababaw lang ako, pero kasi. this is not something you'd see everyday.

in just 4 days, Ateneo has packed almost 40,000 food packages, and has delivered them into 17 deployments to date.
photo taken by Kevin Tatco.

naniniwala na ako sa altruism. it may not be the same for everyone in the covcourts, pero alam ko nakakita na ako, and i believe in altruism. :(

4. GRABEH KAHIT DI AKO NASALANTA NG BAGYO, WALA MAN LANG SA FRIENDS KO SA ILOILO ANG NAGTANONG KUNG OKAY LANG AKO. pfft. this is a sign.

5. kanina when we were going to the convent to deliver the relief goods, there was a man who was in charge of IVC i think. and he was asking me about my course and what i plan to do after college. tapos, after a long silence, he told us "alam mo kayong mga kids, you are so idealistic now. we've been there before too, pero when you go out to the real world. it's so different. crazy. but that's okay. cge lang."

napaisip lang ako.

6. i know this is not the time, but thank you Lord dahil safe ako. safe ang pamilya ko.

Thank You po.

Ondoy relief operations

(this blog may seem like i'm running for office or something, showing off how i volunteered, but this is just to document what i did the other day. :)

unlike some people i know. at least, i know now who i'm not going to vote. ARG.

this was what katipunan looked like last Saturday. it never floods in Katip. Katip has a good drainage system, but somehow, this typhoon was just extreme.

Jer and i decided to go to MVP (Manny V. Pangilinan Center for Leadership) last Sunday to see what we could do to help. We were escorted to the briefing session and we signed up for cooking. We srsly wanted to cook. When we got to our assigned venue for cooking, no one was telling us what to do, so we went back to MVP to help up with Danica and the other ENTA members who were in the OSA Office. We were the 'operators' receiving reports and forwarding them to NDCC, updating the status of the victims and etc.

third, cute, cas, jaki, jer, danica, pam and i. :)

this was the Cainta board, there were other reports coming from provident, and etc. We even received a report asking to rescue 3000 people in a barangay/village. huhu.

while danica was calling NDCC to report them, the rest of us headed to Colaycao Pav to help out with the repacking.
one bag should contain 4 canned goods, 5 bread/biscuits, 500-600ml water, and 4 cup noodles. Ateneo packed over 8,000 that day. When it was getting darker, the whole relief operations moved to the college covered courts.

the bags being moved to cars. thank you to people who volunteered their cars.

so while people were mobilizing to the covered courts, i went back to OSA because i've been receiving texts from people who haven't been rescued yet. NDCC WAS NOT ANSWERING OUR CALLS. We searched for other rescue operations like ABS-CBN Foundation and GMA, but FAIL. We searched for RED CROSS, and THANK GOD they were responding to our reports. Thank you RED CROSS.

Demi Lovato tweeted about donating to the RED CROSS and helping people in the Philippines. Other celebrities like Paris Hilton, Deepak Chopra, etc. have sent their help as well. Thank YOU.

I went home at around 8. I was on hunger strike, so i tried Mcdo and Jollibee but they were still FAIL. So i went to Rustans to panic buy my face. The aisle for canned goods and noodles were EMPTY. I lined up in the shortest counter, and saw that people were avoiding that line because the one ahead had 3 carts full of groceries. WAAH. When it was about time to pay for the groceries, the owner approached. Si Jericho Rosales lang pala. HE IS GWAPO. He may look simple on tv, but he definitely stands out. :)

And guess who I saw on my way back, none other than The Virlynn Ramirez. HAHA. Looking for yosi in katip. I accompanied her in searching for yosi and found Deer and Mitzi!

Mitzi's 8th floor condo unit got flooded. HOW? I DON' T KNOW TOO. HAHAHAHA

classes have been called off till Tuesday. i say, not because i want to take a rest from everything, extend it. Because there are lots of ateneo staff, faculty, and students who are still recovering from the calamity. They've lost school stuff, clothes, how are they going to school!? gets. and for the relief operations to continue, because volunteers have been pouring in in Ateneo. some people say there's a surplus of volunteers in the Ateneo already. i'm so proud. GO ATENEO.

it's not too late. If you're not in Manila, and you want to donate, click here to find your location and how to donate.

typhoon Ondoy

this typhoon is crazy. i have experienced a manila calamity. i thought i'd only hear this in news reports or in movies, but it was all real.

i was sick last night because I the whole day i didn't have an umbrella with me. So i slept with my runny nose, red eyes, and asthma. I set my alarm for 6am because i was planning to get some readings from the library and do some papers, so that all will be set from the remaining three DIBA BIDA shows till prod party. but because i was sick, i woke up at 1030. I texted Jermaine to take care of stretching and told her that i'll be a little late. i was receiving a lot of texts from my cast saying that they would be late and that it was traffic+raining hard outside. when i went out of the room, i saw this:

i thought it was an amusing scene, so i took a picture of it, went back inside the room and blogged it. HAHA. after awhile, i went out again to finally take a bath, and saw this:
that's jermaine's room. that's water coming in the first floor rooms. i sent jer the image and told her to come back na. she did, and she was screaming. hahaha. sorry, jer you're just a funny personality. HAHA. :) so anyway, for sometime we didn't have electricity so i just bummed around. actually i was unproductive today. didn't do anything except internet when the electricity came back on.

the first floor dormers had to evacuate because the water was up to their knees. so the daughter of the prefect will be sleeping over with us tonight, plus jer. haha. here's jer the refugee, crashing our room for the meantime. haha

so we were online the whole day, plurking with other people. we've been receiving plurks and texts from people who were stranded in school. eventually, Ateneo came up with a gameplan. (gameface on!!) they gathered all the students and stranded faculty and staff in the caf and told them that Kostka, MVP and the Caf will be open for the overnighters. it wasn't advised for people to go home. Pao and Vian are still on the road, hope they're fine. :(

i haven't really gone out, i'm scared for my life. but here's what was happening outside.
click here for the video, i can't embed it. what's weird is that there's a current. there are waves. beach ba ito!? haha. here's one more video from katipunan.

scary. check the 0:22 mark. check out the van and the car. oh and please please please check out around 1:24, you'll witness a car sinking. that's in katipunan. it's the empty excavated lot that used to be Banco de Oro near KFC. shit noh?

after hearing that the caf was open (we were so hungry), we decided to go to the campus. I asked Jer to buy me food while i went to the org room in MVP to see if my friends were okay. :) they were spending the night in the ENTA room. boo, but at least they're safe. we're still checking to see if everyone we know is safe.

mark&friend, omar, and angelo in the ENTA room. :) that's my hand. haha. david went to mass in the MVP lobby, while tal and bianca were in the ACOMM room. :) Thank God everyone's safe.

i'm a bit worried for my family in Bilad, Tarlac though. as i've said in my Immersion blog, it's hard to look for food in their community especially if it's raining. our OSCI formator made kwento and told us that there were times that it would rain super hard, and they wouldn't have anything to eat for 3 days. not even rice. they usually hike 2 hours to go to the Gasak to get food. but with the rain and the typhoon, i don't think it's safe to go out. oh dear and the wind. their houses aren't stable for typhoons. i hope they're okay. :((

i remember when i was just a dear 'ol freshie, bagyong Milenyo was the worst i've encountered. no electricity for the whole day, you could hear the wind blowing super hard, trees got uprooted, the road was messy because the plants and trees were everywhere. we didn't have food for the whole day because no one was delivering. when the rain died down, mika, cha and i went to eastwood and ate whatever was open. Binalot saved us. :) when we returned, it wasn't raining anymore so cha and i decided to document the ruins (ruins!!) of the calamity.
uprooted tree in front of xavier. :)

sign near bellarmine hall. :)

North parking lot. :)

well, i hope everyone's safe. :( global warming global warming global warming. please don't say we weren't warned.

I was at the caf awhile ago and i asked the lady at the cashier until what time will they be open, and she said, for as long as there's food. so they're going to work overnight. huhuuh. thank you to the people in school who make sure we're safe and sound, who make sure we have food to eat. :(

there are more families out there that need our help, so if you have relief goods like food, clothing and medicines to donate, please bring them to Cervini Hall, Ateneo de Manila University. There are people there who will accept your donations. :)

i miss family.

i've been watching a lot of family movies lately. Cheaper By The Dozen 2, Yours Mine Ours, In My Life and etc. and i don't know why, but when the movie gets to scenes where the family gets together, comes to a realization and stuff, i cry. and i don't usually cry when i watch movies. but this time, WOOH. and maybe because i miss my family suuuper kaduper. first sems are always evuhl because it takes 5 months before i can go home. unlike 2nd sem, there's christmas break after 2 months and summer break after 3.

i seriously want to go home. please bring me home. i'm excited to eat manang elsa's latik (squash soup), eat Lapaz market chicken inasal and liempo, Biscocho House's DULCE GATAS (huhuuh please), lola's macaroni salad (na gagawin ni manang elsa haha coz lola can't do it anymore), mang inasal (if you guys are sick of it na, i'm not. haha), butterscotch!, breakthrough restaurant, crab morcon from summer house, (oh i don't don't miss coffee break. bwahah sorry), chicken skin and pancakes in front of AC. crabs, seaweeds, the small fish that ng remya always cooks, wahuhu.

i miss mommy. and her kerazy wheaty evil plans. random outings. and late evening chikas. i miss josh and his kwento about girls, girls courting him (nakakaloka), school and his ten million extra-curricular activities. i miss sivney and his coool dance moves, funny jokes and his 'kuya-ish' attitude. he told me once "ate, you're wearing that to sm?" i said, yeah why, he said "boys might like you." CUUUTE. huhu. i miss kaylle and her kwento about jeff martin, her 'boyfriend' haha, or her stresses about school work (but she's top of her class. haha) i miss lolo's bring home surprises like puto, paa bread, barbeque and stuff.

in all honesty i miss my lola's kulitness, asking my 10 times if i've eaten already or asking me who our mother mistress is in school. she keeps on forgetting that Assumption doesn't do mother mistresses anymore, moreover, she keeps on forgetting i'm in Ateneo na. :) haha i miss the way she goes up and down the stairs bringing 3 sets of clothes everytime. or the way lola takes a bath 3 times in a span of two hours because she keeps forgetting she has already taken a bath na. hahaha.

i miss the smell of my house, i miss the feel of my room, i miss just hanging with my brothers, playing God of War in PS2, or throwing kaylle up in the air. BWAHA.

i want to go home naaaa

In My Life.

sembreak hurry up please. so after two all nighters, one of which was celebrated with a starbucks banana caramel cream cheese...

today i went out with friends to watch IN MY LIFE, starring Vilma Santos, Lloydie and Luis Manzano. :) and i found my 3rd favorite pinoy film!! (1st-Nasaan Ka Man, 2nd-One More Chance)
check out the funny trailer below. :)

the movie was very very touching. HUHUH. i wanted to cry, but....... i missed watching the WHOLE thing. arg, coz i fell asleep. NO NOT THAT IT WAS boring or anything, i took a sleepiness-inducing drug earlier that morning and i haven't had real sleep for the past two days. put me in a cold cold moviehouse after eating a bucket of popcorn in a very comfy chair, and voila, you have a soundly sleepy timee. :)

nevertheless, the movie was very very very nice. kudos to vilma santos, she really is THE vilma santos. :) and john lloyd knows how to act. tipong mapapaiyak ka din. :) Luis, well, did a good job too. :) lines are very witty, i love love love it.

In My Life is a great movie. :) it's a must watch. i'm so proud, Filipino films are getting better. :)

remember that horror movie starring Richard Guttierez, Angel Locsin and Iza Calsado? I think the title is SIGAW. well, i semi-watched the movie (you know, with my hands over my eyes for 70% of the movie haha) and it was scary. hehe. and there's an American remake of it, it's entitled ECHOES. :) super proud. go pinoy movies!

although i didn't get to do all the things i wanted to do for my ME DAY, i think i'm happy had this one day for myself. :) it was a short-time getaway from the things i had to think about. :) yaay. i didn't get to shop because i had a meeting with the other directors regarding the play schedules. okay, so maybe i couldn't get away from this one. but at least it wasn't stressful. :)

so i went to Bench Fix to have my hair, uhm, fixed. HAHA. had it trimmed a little. tapos the ate blewdry my hair, kaya it was straight for today. homeygad. IT WAS SUUUPER LONG. SUUUUPER LONG. i took a picture for the world to see how LOONG IT WAS.

vain ang lola mo. :)

so yeah. :) thank you for this me-day Lord. :) thank you

no really how have i been doing?

you want the truth? or wanna hear what you wanna hear? haha let's just say my mom has received a lot of calls from me this week. :)

aside from our new microwave in the dorm, our prefect is back.
i'm going to call it veetee. because it looks like a tv.

we're going to have to pass this year for CADS' Rhythm In Blue. HAHA. Not that we know we're going to get in, trust me, no. HAHA. But the EB saw that we couldn't juggle RIB and the newbie production at the same time. I miss dancing though. :( i miss entayaw. haha what were we thinking. HAHAHAHA
jika, gabby, nicole, jer, timee, judge, dach
not in pic: mike, geoc, josh

last week, ENTABLADO was part of MAGIS, The School Of Humanities' Cultural Gala. :) We weren't part of only presenting the dramatics in The Ateneo, but we performed in a lot more. :) Some of the enta members were also stage managers, headed by The Virlynn Ramirez. :) We didn't get to rehearse DIBA BIDA during that week, but it was okay because MAGIS rehearsals were funn-nny. HAHAHA. (hihi)

Magis rehearsals. :)

ENTA-Magis people! :)

After MAGIS!

So after MAGIS, we were back to our busierbee lives again.

Mark, you are just adorable. :)

By now, people should have gotten the cue that it was no longer the time to say "guys crunch time na!" But now is the time to say "guys, this is it". And how i see it, no one's even saying crunch time na. Hai. My eyes are tired, and crying will not do anything anyway. I'm just praying for a miracle on Monday. A lot of people have sacrificed a lot for this production, and i don't think many people get it. It's unfair. So i'm just praying for a miracle for everything to be okay. My actors, tech, props, set. *deep breaths. deeep breaths*

i just have to have faith. :)

LET'S GO FRIENDS! :)
